- Designing mission-critical architectures and defining disaster recovery targets (RTO, RPO).
Part II: Core Cloud Services
- Storage and data fundamentals: Azure Table Storage and Azure Cosmos DB.
- Compute and container platforms: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Registry (ACR).
- Relational data and messaging: Azure SQL Database and Azure Service Bus.
- Practical exercises for each service: configuring, deploying, and evaluating against criteria such as availability, performance, security, and pricing.
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Bicep to ensure reproducible environments.
Day 2: Architecture Leadership and Clean Architecture
Part III: The Architect
- Defining software architecture and exploring different architectural viewpoints.
- The roles, responsibilities, and decision-making ownership of software architects.
- Creating architecture specifications and effectively communicating with technical and business stakeholders.
- A practical roadmap for becoming an effective software architect.
Part IV: Managing Dependencies in Monoliths
- Principles of Clean Architecture: separation of concerns, dependency direction, and long-term maintainability.
- Selecting appropriate cloud services for modernising monolithic applications (weighing pros and cons).
- Practical lab: developing and deploying a Clean Architecture solution in Azure using .NET.
Day 3: Domain Driven and Distributed Architectures
Part V: DDD, CQRS, and Event Sourcing
- Fundamentals of Domain-Driven Design: establishing domain boundaries, ubiquitous language, and model-driven design.
- Concepts of CQRS and Event Sourcing for managing complex, evolving business domains.
- Architectural patterns commonly applied in DDD-based cloud solutions.
- Practical lab: applying Event Sourcing as a requirements-driven design technique (translating requirements into events, aggregates, and event flows).
Part VI: Microservices
- Principles of microservices architecture and trade-offs inherent in distributed systems.
- Selecting cloud services for microservices-based solutions (weighing pros and cons).
- Synchronous and asynchronous communication styles in microservices, including reliability patterns like circuit breakers and resiliency strategies.
- Ensuring testability in microservices and CI/CD pipelines: contract testing, defining integration test boundaries, automated quality gates, and deployment confidence.
- Practical lab: developing and deploying microservices in Azure using .NET.

- Proficiency in an advanced programming language (such as C# or Java).
- A foundational understanding of the architectural styles covered in the course.
- Basic experience working with cloud platforms and services.
- At least five years of professional software engineering experience.
