Upon completing this course, you will be equipped to:

- Interpret the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management systems from an auditor's perspective.
- Assess the conformity of an AI management system to ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, adhering to fundamental audit concepts and principles.
- Plan, execute, and close ISO/IEC 42001 compliance audits in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements, ISO 19011 guidelines, and other auditing best practices.
- Manage an ISO/IEC 42001 audit programme.
Outline
Day 1: Introduction to artificial intelligence management systems and ISO/IEC 42001.
Day 2: Audit principles, including preparation and initiation of audits.
Day 3: On-site audit activities.
Day 4: Closure of the audit.
Day 5: Certification Exam.
Examination
The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor” exam aligns with the PECB Examination and Certification Program (ECP) requirements. It encompasses the following competency domains:
Domain 1: Fundamental principles and concepts of an AI management system.
Domain 2: AI management system requirements.
Domain 3: Fundamental audit concepts and principles.
Domain 4: Preparing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit.
Domain 5: Conducting an ISO/IEC 42001 audit.
Domain 6: Closing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit.
Domain 7: Managing an ISO/IEC 42001 audit programme.

Certification
PECB ISO/IEC 42001 Certification Path and Requirements
After successfully passing the exam, you may apply for one of four professional credentials based on your level of experience. All credentials require passing the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or an approved equivalent) and signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
1. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Provisional Auditor
Suitable for newcomers who have mastered the theoretical aspects but lack practical auditing or industry experience.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent).

Professional Experience: Not required.

Management System Audit Experience: Not required.

2. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Auditor
Designed for professionals with a foundational level of experience in AI management and auditing.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent).

Professional Experience: Two years in total, including at least one year of specific experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 200 hours of qualifying audit activities.

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics.
3. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor
The standard credential for experienced professionals qualified to plan, lead, and manage AI management system audit teams.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent).

Professional Experience: Five years in total, including at least two years of specific experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 300 hours of qualifying audit activities.

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics.
4. Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Senior Lead Auditor
The highest tier for expert practitioners with extensive, long-term leadership experience in auditing AI frameworks.

Exam Requirement: Pass the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor Exam (or equivalent).

Professional Experience: Ten years in total, including at least seven years of specific experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Management System Audit Experience: A minimum of 1,000 hours of qualifying audit activities.

Additional Requirement: Sign the PECB Code of Ethics.
Note on Qualifying Audit Activities: To be recognised by PECB, your audit hours must adhere to best practices and include activities such as audit planning, managing an audit programme, drafting audit or non-conformity reports, conducting on-site audits, and leading an audit team.
General
- Certification and examination fees are included in the training course price.
- Participants will receive comprehensive course materials containing over 450 pages of explanations, examples, best practices, exercises, and quizzes.
- Participants who attend the course will be issued an attestation of completion worth 31 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits.
- If a candidate fails the exam, they may retake it free of charge within 12 months of the initial attempt.
